SAEF Table Tennis Therapy Program.

During the course of the afternoon, SAEF will be honoring Susan Sarandon, Jonathan Bricklin and SPiN Galactic with the SAEF Vision Award, for their efforts to create a public consciousness for table tennis in this country that has not been done before. Their receiving of the SAEF Vision Award will be acknowledged through a videotaped response.

It is also our privilege to present the SAEF Special Recognition Award to honor The Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation’s signature program - Leeza’s Place at Olympia Medical Center, for the significant role it continues to play in providing quality support for family caregivers.

SAEF's mission is to continue to make a measurable difference by providing senior citizens afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia, an opportunity to regain a renewed sense of hope through table tennis therapy.

SAEF's program was established based on a formal Japanese clinical study that showed how table tennis uniquely activates multiple portions of the brain, thus producing increased awareness and functioning in participants. Table tennis is a safe and pleasant sport that has proven to be effective in improvement of motor function, attentiveness, concentration, as well as endurance and has been referred to as "the best brain sport" by leading medical experts.

SAEF is gathering the momentum and support needed to establish its Alzheimer's program as a premier model for similar table tennis therapy programs throughout the country.
